Frequently Asked Questions

What is your availability?

I am currently accepting new clients. I offer sessions between 9 AM - 5 PM Monday-Friday. I typically do not offer appointments on Thursdays, but there is limited flexibility if it’s the only option. You can schedule a consultation call here.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

I am offering in-person sessions on Tuesdays. My office is conveniently located at 4283 Piedmont Ave in Oakland, CA. I will give you more information about my suite number and all the specifics when we schedule an appointment.

Do you take any insurance?

Currently I do not take any insurance plans. However, I do work with many of my clients under their out-of-network coverage. How this works is you pay upfront for each session and then every month, or however often we decide, I will give you a ‘superbill’ (itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Clients typically get between 50-70% of session costs reimbursed, although this vastly differs across plans and insurance providers. If you are interested in working with me out-of-network, I would suggest calling your insurance provider’s member service line to ask ahead of time how much they would cover.

What are your rates?

As my rates are adjusted over time and may differ depending on if we are using a sliding scale, I do not list them on my website, but I am happy to discuss my rates with you via phone call or email.

What can I expect from therapy?

A lot of people base their perceptions of therapy on what they’ve seen in popular media. Some people fear that their therapist will pry into the deepest darkest corners of their mind, while others worry that their therapist will spend the whole session judging them. Fortunately, therapy -- at least with me -- is a lot more boring than that! We’ll spend most of our sessions talking about whatever felt noteworthy to you and trying to better understand your emotions and experiences. If there are times where it feels too overwhelming, we can always stop and transition to a lighter topic. Therapy happens at your pace.

How do I get started?

The first step is to set up a time for a free 15 minute consultation call (can be phone or video). You can contact me here. The consultation call is a chance for me to learn more about what you’re looking for and for you to ask anything of me that you may be curious or unsure of. If we both feel it is a good fit then I will send you all the paperwork you need to fill out to get started and we will schedule an intake appointment.
